Rick Hayes and His Cute Little Retro Homepage

Funny thing about the Internet

It's full of websites that just sort of sit there and never get updated. This place has a long history of repeated furious updating and layout tweaking, only to rejoin the stagnant pile in the back corners of Google's bedroom closet. Boredom with color schemes, changes to web hosts, and multiple long-distance moves are convenient excuses for my continued perpetuation of this cycle.

And, there's always my favorite whine for this circumstance: Too many hobby activities that look interesting, and a finite amount of free time.

Since I'm in graduate school now, and now have five years to not worry about updating that previous sentence clause for freshness and reality, I will be content once more with simply maintaining the Google status quo.

I did decide to join the 21st century, however, and finally started a weblog. Check that for recent content, if you are so inclined.

Stuff

various little mini-sites that I've cultivated since the release of NSCA Mosaic 1.0. (at least the ones that I let you know about)

Mystical Stuff
Laundry Lists of Nonsense: A site devoted to but one of my weird college nostalgia kicks, the band King Missile. Originally built in April 1995; overhauled December 1996; mostly forgotten during the rise and fall of the dot-com hype; now back from the dead. There's even new content.

Horned Stuff
The Intergalactic Church of the Rhinoceros: Because every US citizen should start their own religion. Who am I to question the talking fiberglass sculpture?

Roadtrip Stuff
Jen and I recently drove from Boston, MA to Los Angeles, CA, as I am now a Ph.D. student at the University of California - Los Angeles. Read about our many adventures here, since we mostly kept to our plan to post an update online nightly.

Monkey Stuff
A little section I like to call Affegrube in honor of being the first new stuff posted on this website since moving to Hamburg, Germany. This is my mirror of the important Monkey Pit project. (Monkey links open in new windows in order to preserve the full greatness of the original, without leaving you confused on where my site went...)

Sing the praises (and otherwise) at: rick *AT* SPAMMITYuptoolateSPAM.SPAMcom (I get enough bogus email as it is...but, you do know what a correct email address looks like, though, right?)
And, don't forget to tell the nice people at Up Too Late that they're neat.
